Fencing 101a & 101b –
Tuesdays 9am
This is where it all begins!
Students will learn the basics of fencing:
with an Epee: En Gardé, Advance, Retreat, Attack, Parry 4 & 6.
This is a TWO Semester course, and it is best to take them in order, although not entirely necessary. Both semesters will teach the main concepts and build on them.
Fencing 200 – Bouting
Tuesdays 10am
Students that have already completed a minimum of one semester, and are also concurrently enrolled in a second semester may join this open bouting time.
Teaching will be very limited during this course as this is a focused on putting into practice those skills taught in previous courses.
Students will build and hone the skills that they learned in their 1st fencing class, such as attacking, blocking, and more.
They will put these skills together to bout with each other in a fun and safe environment.
Fencing 300
Tuesdays 11am
Fencers looking for additional training beyond the Intro Fencing
classes will enjoy and benefit from this advanced course. Fencers
will learn additional parries, tactics, and tips for successfully
conquering your foes on the piste. Fencers will spend more time in
one-on-one drills with the instructor and other advanced students
practicing circular parries, tempo, remise, touch in opposition, and
much more. It is recommended that students take the both Fencing 101A & 101b, as well as Fencing 2-
Bouting class prior to this class for warm up, exercise, and bouting
time. This class will be built around training with less actual
bouting.
Private Lessons
We often get asked if we provide private lessons, or even open classes outside of High Country.
At this time, this is not an option.
If you wish to pursue further Fencing opportunities, we encourage you to discuss options with Coach Sparrow.

What are the class types?
We are a recreational fencing club, offering basic and intermediate classes.
How can I register for a class?
Students must be an active High Country Enrichment Classes student, and must register through HCHE.
What should I bring to class?
The most important thing to bring is a great attitude!
Please remember to wear closed toe court or tennis shoes, and full length athletic pants.
Bring a water bottle, sweat towel and any gear that you own.
